Review | The n-spa range at Asda

The n-spa range has been created by the folks from Nirvana Spa, which is, according to them, the UK's number one day spa. I've never heard of it, but I'm beginning to realise that doesn't mean much! I have noticed this range in Asda a few times whilst looking for beauty bargains but never been tempted until now. Someone recommended the Liz Earle range and I wanted to try something similar but cheaper before splurging.

There is an offer in Asda at the moment to get two products for £8.

N-Spa Youthful Eye Cream - £5 for 15ml

Review | Glossybox January 2014

The Christmas Glossybox was, in my opinion, a disaster (a razor I already use, a lip gloss in an unsuitable shade, a nail polish in an unsuitable shade and some glittery eyeshadow that doesn't stick to my eyelids - ALL given away!) so I was hoping beyond hope that January's would be awesome. However, awesome is one of the last adjectives I would use to describe it, and I feel like asking GB for a refund of the petrol it cost me to collect it from my dad's house!

Review | Birchbox January 2014

I was thoroughly disappointed with the December offering from Birchbox and was on the verge of cancelling. I am so glad I didn't, because the box I received earlier this week was pretty darn good!

Review | Foundations for a pale face

I am very pale. Most people realise how pale I am once they've seen me sans makeup. I also have very mild rosacea on my cheeks so I like to have a foundation which gives medium coverage that is buildable to full coverage for nights out. I have dry cheeks and an oily t-zone so finding products that suit my problematic skin (redness, paleness, dryness, oiliness!) is hard.

I avoided wearing foundation for years because nothing was light enough for my skin. I used several Clinique foundations for a while, and was colour matched to 'alabaster' 'fair' and 'ivory' depending on the range. After a few uses I realised I still looked too dark. I moved on to No 7 Intelligent Colour Foundation in 'light' and that was too dark too!

Wednesday Whine | My Views on Having Children

I'd like to talk to you today about children. At the moment I don't seem able to turn around without bumping into a friend or colleague's vastly expanded tummy. Pregnant people are suddenly EVERYWHERE.

I think my 22 year old self would be a little disappointed that I'm 30 and still have no desire to procreate. Sure, there are times when I see a baby gurgle, or a toddler smile and I think "maybe..." but those moments are fleeting and are quickly replaced by the realisation that I am far too selfish to have children. I have finally reached a point in my life where my job has the potential to become more than just a job, and I have the opportunity to really develop a career.

I'm not saying that being a parent is not a wonderful and joyous thing, but I like to sleep when I like, get up when I like and be answerable only to myself. I can barely muster the effort required to keep my household running now, and there are only two adults and two dogs. I'll often go for two weeks without doing any washing (shocking eh! I can hear some of you fainting with disbelief and/or disgust right now!) and I'm not really sure if I've ever cleaned some of the windows in my house (which is slightly disconcerting given that we've lived here for over six years!)
