Review | Soigné - nail lacquer with a difference

I was introduced to Soigné Botanique Nail Lacquer in May's Birchbox when I received the shade pomegranate. I fell in love with the range and quite quickly my collection grew. Read on to find out why this range is now my ultimate favourite...

Soigné, in French, means elegantly dressed and well groomed, which is what springs to mind when you look at the packaging; reminiscent of Chanel No. 5, the box is chic and understated whilst oozing class.

Let me tell you a little bit about Soigné polishes:
  • They contain no harmful carginogens (in short, something that can cause cancer)
  • Up to 85% of the ingredients are from plant-based sources
  • Toluene, formaldehyde, DBP, camphor and phthalic acid free (I don't know what a couple of these are but I'm going to hazard a guess that they come under the umbrella of "nasties"!)
  • Cruelty free and suitable for vegans.
After receiving a polish in the May Birchbox I wanted more more more! There was an offer at their online store - buy two polishes and receive a free gift set containing three more polishes; I couldn't resist! I bought two more shades and eagerly awaited the gift set. When I received my gift set I was bowled over by how beautiful the packaging is. It's elegant, up-market and very sophisticated.

Aside from the fantastic range of colours what else can you expect from Soigné? Well, the formula is thick and glossy. I don't think many polishes look too good with only one coat and this is no different I'm afraid, but the pigmentation with two coats is just fantastic and well worth the effort. I can't comment on the drying time because the top coat I use works in only a few minutes so I've not yet had to sit around and test this aspect!

The range of colours that are available at the moment are limited to the ones you can buy in the Birchbox store. The Soigné website was due to launch in June but it's July now and it's still saying "launching soon" which is a shame because I am itching to place an order for some of their other colours, mainly some summery pastels. Perhaps by the time you read this the site will be live, who knows?

Another major plus point for me with this polish is that there isn't an unpleasant smell. No nasties = no headache inducing aroma - win win! I definitely think the polish is worth £11 a bottle and I prefer it to other high end polish like Nails Inc because the brush just seems to fit my nails much more easily.

With a decent top coat this polish lasted five days without chipping which is astounding given that I type all day at work then use my computer at home too. My hands are always busy so anything more than 2 days is a miracle formula in my view. I have read a few other reviews which have said the wear time isn't more than a day or two but that wasn't my experience and perhaps those people aren't using a good top coat, who knows?!

To summarise - the formula is amazing, the pigmentation is great and the packaging will make any dressing table look classy and sophisticated.

Have you tried this range? Let me know what you thought in the comments below!

I'm having a blog giveaway if you'd like to check it out. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Not currently I'm afraid! You can only buy them at the Birchbox store but hopefully they will be opening their own online store soon! It would be nice to see them in department stores so that we can look at the colours before buying :)

  4. I'm wearing a nude Soigne at the moment and I am pretty impressed with its longevity, it's not my usual shade though and I opted for nude for a one off night shift where bright red nails is pretty inappropriate! - absolutely loving your swatches though, they do unfortunately make me want to buy them all!
